My relationship with skincare changed a lot when I got pregnant.
Before pregnancy, I didn’t think too deeply about every product I used. I had a routine, but I wasn’t extremely strict about ingredients or labels.
That changed quickly once I became pregnant.
I became much more conscious of the fact that anything I put on my skin could be absorbed into my body. Suddenly, products I had used for years didn’t feel as harmless anymore. I started reading labels more carefully and paying attention to ingredient lists in a way I never had before.
There were also products I had to stop using altogether, which forced me to simplify my routine and rethink what “good skincare” actually meant for me during that season.
Pregnancy made me more intentional.
And postpartum didn’t change that—it reinforced it.
Now that I’ve given birth, I technically have the option to go back to my full skincare routine. But instead of returning to everything I used before, I’ve chosen to stay more mindful. I now prefer cleaner, more transparent formulations, and I use tools like the Yuka app to better understand what’s in my products and how they are rated.
My goal isn’t perfection. It’s awareness and balance.
Here are some of the products I currently use in my postpartum skincare routine.
Yuka Score: 🟢Excellent! 100/100
This is one of my morning staples.
It contains Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Ferulic Acid, and Hyaluronic Acid, which work together to brighten the skin while keeping it hydrated.
What I like most is that it feels gentle and smells great. After pregnancy, my skin became more sensitive, so I’m very careful about anything that might cause irritation.
It helps with:
* Brightening dull skin
* Supporting even skin tone
* Light hydration
It’s simple, effective, and fits easily into a busy mom routine.
Yuka Score: 🟢Excellent! 98/100
Please be aware that you can't use retinol right before/during pregnancy and while breastfeeding!At night, I use the Super A Retinol Serum.
It combines multiple retinoids with Bakuchiol and hydrating ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid, which makes it feel less harsh than traditional retinol products.
Even though I can now technically go back to stronger products postpartum, I’ve realized I prefer formulas that are effective but still gentle.
It supports:
* Skin renewal
* Texture improvement
* Fine line care
It feels like a balanced approach rather than an aggressive one.
Yuka Score: 🟢Excellent! 93/100
This cleanser has stayed in my routine through every phase.
It’s fragrance-free and includes niacinamide and ceramides, which help maintain the skin barrier without stripping the skin.
After pregnancy, my skin became more reactive, so gentle cleansing became non-negotiable.
It’s ideal for:
* Sensitive skin
* Daily use (morning and night)
* Maintaining hydration while cleansing
It’s one of those products I don’t need to think about—it just works.
Yuka Score: 🟢Excellent! 93/100 (both cream and oil)
Unfortunately I discovered this postpartum! But it can definitely be used during pregnancy.
The set includes a stretch mark cream and belly oil designed to support skin elasticity and hydration during body changes.
I appreciated that it is:
* Fragrance-free
* EWG verified
* Specifically formulated for pregnancy and postpartum skin
I use it for hydration and skin recovery.
Yuka Score: 🟢Excellent! 76/100
This is my everyday body wash! Specifically this scent!
It has a light, clean scent and feels gentle on the skin, which is something I’ve become much more mindful of after pregnancy and postpartum. I try to avoid harsh or overly stripping formulas, especially since my skin has become more sensitive over time.
What I like about it is that it feels simple and intentional. It doesn’t leave my skin feeling dry, and it fits well into a routine where I don’t want to think too much—I just want something that works.
It’s made with plant-based ingredients and is:
*Sulfate-free
*Gentle on sensitive skin
*Lightly scented (not overpowering)
*Designed for everyday use
It’s become one of those staple products I keep repurchasing because it makes my routine easier without compromising how my skin feels.
Pregnancy changed how I see skincare.
It made me more conscious, more intentional, and more aware of what I put on my body. Postpartum didn’t reverse that—it solidified it.
Even though I can now return to my full skincare routine, I find myself choosing differently. I prefer cleaner products, simpler routines, and ingredients I understand better.
Tools like the Yuka app have helped me stay informed, but ultimately it’s about how I feel in my own skin—safe, balanced, and consistent.
For me, postpartum skincare isn’t about going back to who I was before.
It’s about continuing forward with more awareness than I had before.
